I had the pleasure of sitting down with Bill Kent, Executive Director at the Association of Energy Engineers.

Bill brought a ton of insight on the evolution of his career, the mission of AEE, and how their certifications continue to shape the global energy workforce.

We dove deep into hiring—what works, what doesn't, and why cultural fit and values alignment are top priorities in their talent strategy. Bill even shared how they're doubling down on early-career professionals and using behavioral interviewing to ensure long-term success.


I'm not in the energy efficiency space, I'm in the people business

Our first value is people first. People ask me what business I'm in. I'm not in the energy efficiency, I'm not in the nonprofit space, I'm in the people business.

It's really all about the people. And I think the second thing is we're a global family. We have, 18,000 members around the world and more than 130 countries. And so it's all about people and a global family, bringing everyone together to share best practices, to network, and really try and address energy issues locally and on a global basis.
